Ana Flores' Poetry of the Wild - Smokebrush and our community partners are proud to announce the debut of the Colorado Springs installation of Poetry of the Wild, an interactive, collaborative, community art project designed by international artist Ana Flores. Beginning in June of 2007, and running through the summer, the project will introduce specially-designed "poetry boxes" to locations throughout the city and surrounding areas. Each box has been decorated by students from local schools and artists of all ages, and contains site-specific poetry written or collected by members of Poetry West and other local authors. The boxes also contain journals and pencils, so that visitors can respond to the project, their surroundings, or the poetry in the box, and can add their own thoughts, poems, or drawings to the journal. Click here for more information on the boxes, their locations, and Ana Flores.

Smokebrush in Mexico - In 2005, Smokebrush employee Lindsay Ray took the Foundation global by introducing art classes and community art projects to students in the town of Otates, Mexico.  Other members of the Smokebrush family visited her last fall to work with the students. In 2006, Lindsay and her students will be decorating trash barrels for a town where trash pick-up is a new and exciting concept.  Watch the site for photos and stories of Smokebrush in Mexico.
