WHY DO YOGA? TESTIMONIALS
For starters yoga helps what ails you. Iyengar Yoga has made my body more flexible. I’ve gained strength in my hips and legs (ever important for my ailing knees). I’ve learned balance and breathing (ever important and good for all of me) and I’ve made some nice friends. I call them “yoga peeps”.
Yoga gives me the chance to slow down. I get to breathe. I get to listen to my breath (really listen). I get to stretch my legs and knees and shoulders and hips. I get to stretch places and move parts that I didn’t know I had (greater trochanter? Really? I have one of those?)
I’m busy you’re busy, we’re all busy but missing yoga class is not an option for me. Class times go on my calendar and barring a family emergency, I go to my yoga classes faithfully!
For 90 glorious minutes of an Iyengar yoga class, I get to take care of myself.

I took my first yoga class with Peggy Berg at Colorado College three years ago. I didn’t know it was Iyengar Yoga. I just knew it worked for me. At my age I don’t need poses flowing from one to another I need to stretch and twist and hold. I appreciate that she emphasizes different problem areas from one session to the next. I can get knotted up at my weights/cardio class at Penrose Hospital and attend her class the following day and leave feeling no pain. I was developing a “dowager hump” in my upper back when I began Iyengar Yoga and with her ability to put me in touch with my body, I’m standing tall- well, taller. Not yet great, but I’m getting there. I’ll follow her anywhere.
Marmalade is just welcoming. I’m always greeted with a smile and made to feel at home. I haven’t come to any of the other available programs yet but the year is young, and being retired, I also appreciate the reasonable charge for classes.
Thank you.

When you enter the Marmalade Yoga Studio it is immediately calming-restored wooden floors, brick walls with beautiful tapestries, statuettes, candles and low lighting- a special space!
Having taken a gentle style of yoga off and on for many years, which I still enjoy, the class title “Restorative Yoga” spurred my interest due to the development of an arthritic knee. The supportive use of the bolsters, blocks, blankets even chairs used in this class have broadened my knowledge of what is available. These props along with excellent instruction have provided me with a healing, supportive and painless experience.
The opportunity to benefit from the world travels and on going training of teachers and the visiting yogis is definitely an added plus at Marmalade.
