What's on the Horizon? 

The

Light of H.O.P.E.

exhibition
continues in the Smokebrush Main Gallery
through December 17.




December’s First Friday Art Walk will be spiced up with a must-see performance experience by 11 local performers/groups who will entertain during the 5pm-8pm opening reception, as well as a floating exhibition within the professional exhibition that includes local college students who’ve made artwork in response to the HOPE exhibition and Brian Steidle’s film, The Devil Came On Horseback. All artwork will be auctioned off to benefit the Smokebrush Foundation and the H.O.P.E. Organization.

The performance repertoire for opening night includes:
Crystal Bliss, Chris Bullock (Tall City), Heidi Cooper, Sarah Hope & Hillary Studebaker, Grass It Up, Jae Knowles, Karen Peace, Bob Tudor, Kat Tudor, Brendan Woodard. Classical composer Karen Peace will debut her song “Un-Holy Night”. Several of the performers are expected to collaborate with each other.

Smokebrush’s Chapel of Art Gallery presents recent work by photographer Judith Kimbrell in an exhibition entitled

Corpus et Natura.

The Opening Reception is scheduled Friday, December 5, 5pm-8pm as part of the First Friday Artwalk events.
The exhibition continues through December 17, 2008.

Inspired by the relationship of the human body to the landscape, Judith Kimbrell’s new body of work,
Corpus et Natura, fuses her passion for large format landscape photography with figurative portraiture.

Judith Kimbrell received her Bachelor degree in 1996, with a double major of theatre and art, from Hillsdale College in Michigan. Her additional studies in photography, 1996-1997, were at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo. Following her studies in Kalamazoo she worked as staff photographer at an advertising agency in Jackson, Michigan. Since moving to Colorado Springs in 1998 Judith spent four and a half years in a commercial photography studio, Don Jones Photography, as the Studio Manager and 2nd Shooter. She is currently a self-employed landscape and commercial photographer operating under the business name Mother Nature Photography, as well as Art Faculty at Pikes Peak Community College.
